Vine Online  -  Details  - New Account Setup Process

All web sites consist of two distinct parts.  First, is the graphic design that provides the look and feel of the web site.  Second, is the content that makes up the web site.

vine Step 1: Subscribe to the Vine Online

Subscribe to the Vine Online by filling out the form out our web site.  A representative from the Vine Online will contact you and continue to work with you throughout the entire process.  Although we have made creating a website very easy to do, we realize it is still intimidating.  We are available to you to provide you with support along the way.

vine Step 2: Graphic Design

The graphic design can be created in a variety of ways depending on the expertise of the person doing the design.  The Vine Online was created to allow churches to use their own internal designer to save cost if they desire.  Since not all churches have a person with the right skills and tools, Click Logic provides discounted design services to Vine Online customers.  It is even possible to purchase a design template from one of the many template web sites.  Regardless of who does the design, the result should be a picture of what the final web site will look like.  The design is then converted into a dynamic file that is used by the Vine Online to create the look of each page.  Vine Online staff will perform the conversion when a Vine Online site is purchased.
vine Step 3: Plan the Content

The Vine Online simplifies creating pages so that anyone in your congregation can do it.  Since the Vine Online has very precise security, you can safely give access to anyone you choose while limiting access to only the pages they need.  Most organizations find it helpful to create a list of the pages that will make up the web site.  The list should look like the table of contents for a book.  The chapters and section titles of the book are called branches in the Vine Online.  The individual sections of the book form the pages in the Vine Online.  Pages are built using any of the online tools including: Calendar, Blog, Dynamic Page, etc.  It is a good idea to walk through each of the page types in the tools section of the GetVineOnline.com web site.  For anyone migrating from an existing site, we strongly recommend that you understand the way the the Vine Online organizes pages as it is probably different than what you have experienced before.  Please see the page on organizing your site.   For example, here is the initial layout for this web site:

  • Home
  • Details
    • What Is It?
    • FAQ (FAQ Component)
    • New Account Setup Process ...
  • Customers (HLink Component)
  • Tools
    • ...

vine Step 4: Create the Pages

Using the online Site Builder, you can then create the branches and pages to match the outline.  The pages can remain empty until one or more people add text to them.  As branches and pages are created, the menu is automatically updated.  If you have some pages that will not have content for a while, you can easily hide them until you are ready to display them.  Here is a picture of the the site builder for this web site.

If you have existing content on another website, you can cut and paste the content from the old site to the new one.  Likewise, many people like to type out the content in a word processor and then cut and paste it into the web site.  This generally works well, but the preferred method is to type it right into the online editor that is built into the Vine Online.
